Attaching Licenses to Solutions

When you have your Product installed and your License is activated on farm there is last step to do - attach this License to your Product (Solution). Without this you will not be able to use installed Product.

Note: If you installed Datapolis Process System and activate License (regular or Trial) you also need to attach this License to Datapolis Process System.

In this article you will find information about attaching Licenses to Solutions. Please follow below steps to understand naming, relation between objects and ways of configuration.

Understanding naming

Below you will find description of important objects in Datapolis Process System naming convention:

  • Product is something that you install in your farm (e.g. Datapolis Process System or Datapolis Process System with Web Site Template containing Workflows or only Web Site Template containing Workflows).
  • Solution Template may be a part of Product or standalone object which contains definition of some functionality (e.g. Web Site Template containing Workflows or even Datapolis Process System itself which is a special type of Solution Template).
  • Solution is deployed (installed/implemented) object that you can use (e.g. installed Datapolis Process System or Web Site with Workflows that was created from Web Site Template).

Some Solution basing on their definition (Solution Template) may require License to work. That kind of Solution Templates may be developed by Datapolis or by Datapolis Partners.

Relation between Licenses and Solutions

When you have your Solution deployed on farm (e.g. Web Site or installed Datapolis Process System) and this Solution requires License (like Datapolis Process System) you may attach it to the License.

There are several important things that need to be known about Licenses:

  • You can have (activate) as much Licenses as you want in you farm.
  • License can be for one or more different Solutions types (created from different Solution Templates, e.g. one License can be for Datapolis Process System and Web Site with Workflows).
  • License can be for more than one same type of Solution (created from same Solution Template, e.g. for two same type Web Sites with Workflows)
  • Different Licenses in your farm can be for same Solutions types (e.g. you can have two Licenses for Datapolis Process System - one Trial and one regular)

Below you can find important things about attaching Licenses to Solutions:

  • One Solution can be attached to just one License (e.g. when you attach Datapolis Process System to regular License you cannot attach it to Trial License in same time)
  • Licenses can be detached again and attached any time you need (e.g. if you attach Trial License to Datapolis Process System you can detach it and attach to regular License, then, if needed you can revert this)

Attaching License to Solutions

Here you will find description how to attach License to Solution.

Attaching Datapolis Process System to Trial License

This is the most basic situation. You have generated your Trial License and want to activate it on farm. If you don't have Trial License yet, see how to Generate Trial License. After the license is activated you can associate it to Solution (which is Datapolis Process System) by clicking +.

Changing attachment of Datapolis Process System from Trial to regular License

If you have bought your license and activated it, you need to change the license to which Datapolis Process System is attached.

Click x next to associated solution.

Then select Datapolis Process System in bought license and click +.

Attaching two Solutions to their License

You can also attach custom solution to its license. The license has limit of solution which can be associated with it (in case of Datapolis Process System the limit is 1).

When you have attached License you can start work with your Solution (e.g. start creating workflows with Datapolis Process System)
